But if there is a "prize winner" among these rotten stories - this is it - from the President of the Palestinian Authority himself - drum roll please - Abbas vows: No room for Israelis in Palestinian state - where are all the Israel Apartheid liars now? Hmm, can't hear you over the silence. Gutless wonders and hypocrites.

"That's the country I'm proud to stand up for. No, I'd never say Israel is perfect. It has its flaws and foibles. It's made its share of mistakes. But, then again, so has every democratic, liberal and peace-seeking country I know, though few of them have faced existential challenges every day since their birth.
The perfect is the enemy of the good, it's said. Israel is a good country. And seeing it up close, rather than through the filter of the BBC or the Guardian, never fails to remind me why."
3. Israeli Justice - the former President of Israel has been convicted of rape and other related crimes - TA court finds Katsav guilty of rape, sexual harassment - I am not trying to find a silver lining in this - rape is a noxious and offensive crime - but it should be pointed out that even someone who is as prominent and powerful as the former President of Israel is subject to the Israeli justice system. I wonder what would happen to a similar case in almost any Arab country, or in such places as Russia, China, North Korea or Venezuela - my guess is that if the victim ever spoke up, she would cease to exist in a very real way.

5. Mordecai Richler Controversy - I do not read many works of fiction - other than certain of the "classics" such as "For Whom The Bell Tolls", "East of Eden", "The Grapes of Wrath" and the recently completed "Life and Fate". I consider Richler to be among the elite writers to have come from Canada, whose work can stand next to anyone's, and I immensely enjoyed most of his books - my particular favorite being either "St. Urbain's Horseman" or "Joshua Then and Now".
A controversy has erupted in Canadian academic circles as to why his novels are not being studied in Canadian universities - here are the reports:
