1. Gee That's A Shame - Al-Qaeda's No. 2 killed in Pakistan - Israel News, Ynetnews - I extend my usual "sentiments" - I hope the bastard died slowly, in excruciating pain, crying for his mommy and soiling his pants. I hope he enjoys his time in eternity in the lowest depths of hell (though as a buddy of mine says - however low you go in hell, the guy who tried to kill the Pope (who isn't dead yet) in always at the head of the line.

(enjoy your time in hell, you bastard)

3. Interesting Concept - Lebanon news - NOW Lebanon -Xanax for the Arabs - PS - this is what Xanax is...

Seems clear to me. I'm not sure that all the useful idiots in the Western World get it though. Maybe we should draw some pictures for them.

"RFE/RL: Do you believe that Israel has a right to exist as a Jewish state?

El-Erian: All Jewish individuals have the right to live among Arab countries. And they lived for decades and centuries in safety in our countries. Existence of a state for Jews is against all rules of states all over the world.

Any state is a state of all citizens, as Egypt is a state for Muslims, Christians, and Jewish. As Morocco is for Jewish, Christians, and Muslims."

"The defensive PR campaign strategy must be eradicated. When Israel faces these violent confrontations, it must initiate an aggressive, pro-active approach highlighting the atrocious nature of our enemies’ actions. Remind the world that the Palestinians are not united and that a peaceful Palestinian state at this moment is nothing more than a pipedream. Hamas can’t even reign in the terror in its own 140 square mile backyard.
Show the world images of hundreds of rockets falling on our cities, buses riddled with bullet holes and Israelis running for their lives, huddled in bomb shelters trying to evade death.
Whatever action we decide to pursue in the face of repeated attacks on our civilians, one thing is clear: Even if the world demands an apology, it doesn’t mean the demand is justified. We live under daily threats of terror and death, and we will tend to those dangers without apologizing."

11. Wow - Antisemitism Exists - Who Knew? - even the NYT columnist Roger Cohen agrees - sort of....Roger Cohen Discovers Antisemitism

13. Palestinian Statehood - I've said this before in a different way - but these guys have a serious entitlement problem - they want a state for not having done anything - despite prodigious aid for decades from the West (though precious little from their Arab brethren) - If the PA Can’t Hold an Election, Is It Ready for a State? Commentary Magazine

I have a dumb question - why doesn't the PA do something to earn statehood?

15. From The Old West - Jewish Mail-Order Brides on the American Frontier - Tablet Magazine. Which reminds me of this great movie:

16. Material About The Shoah - a variety of links relating to different aspects of the Shoah.

18. I Am Israel - nothing funny to end the blog tonight - just a video about Israel - remember this during all of the vitriol, lies and posturing that is about to unfold in September.....

Thursday, August 25, 2011 - Video Edition

1. Twitter Trouble - The person being interviewed is Steve McDonald, who I am pleased to say I know personally, and who has been a great help to me in my pro-Israel advocacy efforts. Steve is the Associate Director, Communications at the Center for Israel and Jewish Affairs.

2. Say What? - funny how this type of thing never makes the Western media......

3. Finding Our Voices - standing up and being counted. Kol HaKavod!

4. Bloodlands - this is Yale History Professor Timothy Snyder. The subject isn't for the faint of heart - this is a very sad and disturbing history of the murder of 14,000,000 people - each one of whom was a different person who lived a different life and therefore died a different death - by the Nazi and Stalin regimes between 1933 and 1945. One of the best books I have read in a long time, it is very profound and provocative - and will require further reading to try to grasp the enormity of its message.

5. Tony Blair's Sister-in-Law Can Just Shut Up - the sooner the better.....

6. Andrew Klavan - old reliable #1

7. Pat Condell - old reliable #2

8. Last Week's Terror Attack - unfortunately, the audio volume is a bit low, but it is worth listening to.

9. How Much Clearer Can It Be? - what part of this can't people understand?

10. You Just Know I'm Closing With A Katy Perry Video - I would not know her music if I heard it on the radio (does anyone listen to the radio anymore?) - but if she's getting flack for defending Israel, I will support her.

1. Where's Waldo, I Mean, Where's Goldstone? Turkey Commits War Crimes in Iraq: Where’s Goldstone? and Turkish Jets Strike at PKK in Iraq - good question. Don't wait for an answer.

How do you spell "double standards"?

I spell it this way - U-N-I-T-E-D-N-A-T-I-O-N-S

4. This Is No Joke - Syria: Expect the Worst?

(they look like a fun lovin' bunch....)

12. I'll Bet They Don't Want It Any More Than Does Israel - Arab League Warns re; Palestinian State

14. Lebanon Is On the UNSC - a country that has been sadly ruined by Syria, Iran and Hezbollah - so this is what you get - Lebanon thwarts UN Security Council statement denouncing terror attack in southern Israel - Haaretz Daily Newspaper | Israel News

15. Jack Layton - Jack Layton, the leader of the Canadian federal New Democratic Party, died Monday at age 61. I never met him, but by all accounts he was a good guy dedicated to Canada and Canadians, and it is a tragedy that he died at such a young age. That said, I did not agree with his political stance on most any issue.

Almost immediately after his death, a letter from Mr. Layton was released into the middle of an outpouring of emotional media stories, tributes and so on. While I could certainly identify with the part of the letter that spoke to the courage of people fighting cancer - or any disease for that matter - I thought that the letter was overly calculating in a political sense.

Amidst all the media types, I only saw one person who had the stones to criticize the letter - Christie Blatchford of the National Post - for which she has been predictably vilified.

You decide:

Thursday, August 18, 2011 - Things Are Still The Same

I've been away from the blog for a bit - needed a bit of a break, quite frankly. Anyway, it looks like the more things change, the more they stay the same.....it's like I haven't been away at all.

1. Antisemitism Is Still In Style - The Protocols Are Back - Israel Opinion, Ynetnews - well gee, ain't that special. No wonder this Czarist Russia era forgery is so popular with so many antisemites and anti-Israel hypocrites - it's full of the same types of lies they spew.

2. Speaking of Antisemites #1 - I had a very close friend and mentor (who very sadly passed away too soon in 2003) - and who was certainly no antisemite - with whom I had a running argument about Wagner - he would find this article interesting - Richard Wagner’s Music Is Effectively Banned in Israel - Tablet Magazine.

I note that in the article, the author wonders why Wagner's music should not be freely performed in a free country. Issues like that can be debated in Israel, Canada, the US, Australia and so on. However, I never seem to hear someone say the same thing about a "non-free" country - that it should become free - hey, let's have Shania Twain (a good Canadian) perform in Saudi Arabia - that should shake things up a bit.......

A further thought. I admit that this may not apply to the question of performing Wagner in Israel, but a "free country" does not mean that there should not be limits on freedom of speech and the like. And it may well apply to something as disgusting as The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

7. The UN Still Urges "Restraint" - UN's Ban condemns Eilat attacks, concerned of escalation... JPost - Headlines - gee, who could be asking to exercise restraint? The terrorists?

8. Saeb Erekat Is Still An Idiot - Erekat warns Israel against 'irresponsible action'... JPost - Diplomacy & Politics - I think that Erekat is well past his "best before" date, but then again, any one of the idiots of the PA would say the same thing.

10. The PA Still Endorses Hatred - this is from the supposed peace partners who think they deserve their own state.....and who have lots of moronic supporters around the world, especially in Europe.

11. Assad Is Still Running Loose - and I'm sure he is terrified of the calls on him to step down - maybe Vogue Magazine should do another piece on the first family of Syria - after all, what do you wear to a massacre?
12. At Least Pat Condell Is Still Bang On - thanks for a guy willing to call it as he sees it, political correctness be damned.....

13. Bureaucrats Are Still Bureaucrats - are you kidding me? William Watson: Deliver us from mail monopoly | FP Comment | Financial Post

14. Sunni & Shia Still Don't Get Along - though it is good for Israel - Saudi Arabia, Israel Versus Syria, Iran - Tablet Magazine
