(followed by the following plea.....)

1.
Well, At Least He's Honest - Palestinian PM Drops Bomb on Statehood Bid
Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad has told the Associated Press that the Palestinian bid for a declaration of statehood at the U.N. is essentially a meaningless gesture. "My answer to you is no,” he said in response to the question of whether the declaration would change the situation on the ground. “Unless Israel is part of that consensus, it won't.”

And no one listens to either of them.

2. Flotilla Season - In Northern Ireland, there is a time of year (the height of which is coming up very soon in fact around July 12th - marking the 1690 Battle of the Boyne) known as "marching season", where different groups march to promote their cause - most of which are organized by Protestant unionist groups such as the Orange Order, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Apprentice Boys of Derry, and the Royal Black Institution.

Flotilla Season is a very recent development, and one which I hope dies in infancy. The notion that these "activists" are truly bringing needed "aid" to "besieged Gaza" is ridiculous. They are seeking a confrontation with Israel and to embarrass Israel on the world stage. Though I think that on this subject at least, they range from anything from dopes to morons to babes in the woods to useful idiots to terrorist sympathizers to outright terrorists - I could begrudge them 1 nanosecond of credit if they were at least honest and admit their true purpose.

Anyway, as Flotilla Season 2011 is upon us, so are the articles in the press. Here are a variety of links:

And by the way, about those poor Gazans, held down by the "Man" - yes they are held down, but it's by their own Hamas leaders - who they elected, by the way. Who facilitates (real) aid for the people of Gaza? Well.........

3. Is There Anything More You Need To Know About The UN? Last week I noted that Qatar and Iran will be the President and a Vice-President of the UNGA and that Saudi Arabia is on the UN Women panel.

Then, this week:

[c]iting the “wicked policy” of the United States and Britain, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Iranian Supreme Leader, opened the conference with an apparent call for terror attacks on those countries as he said in a statement it was “a duty for all Muslims to confront and fight this inauspicious offspring.”

What's on the UN's agenda next week? Can't wait....
