1. Choosing Sides - when it comes to Nova Scotian critics of Israel, there are, shall we say, the usual suspects. This past week, the Halifax Herald saw fit to publish this piece -Nova Scotia Should Not Be Choosing Sides. I will spare you my analysis of it - I don't like to use bad words, after all.



What I will do instead is to link you to a wonderful response written by Cantor Ari Isenberg, the Spiritual Leader of Shaar Shalom Congregation in Halifax - Nova Scotia, Israel Natural Partners. And if you think that the Cantor writes well, you should meet him in person and hear him sing!

10. Idiots On Parade #1 - a page in Canada's Senate decided to conduct her own protest against the newly elected Harper majority government. Later she was quoted as saying that Canada needs its own "Arab Spring".


I was surprised (well, not really) how many online comments characterized this young lady as a courageous hero. I think she's an idiot - plain and simple.

Canada recently held a federal election. No suggestion that it was other than free and democratic. The Tories won. The NDP surged. The Liberals and the Bloc were vaporized. If you don't like it - then take a hike until the next election. Somehow, if the Tory and NDP results were reversed, I don't think she'd be complaining about the electoral turnout. Anyway - if she wants an Arab Spring, let her go to Syria and make it happen there (see item 8 above, by the way - just a guess - the Assad security apparatus won't be quite as polite as Parliament Hill security) or go to Tunisia and set herself on fire (oops - already been done).

And here's your real Arab Spring:
