Here we go!

2. Khaled Abu Toameh - as noted previously on my blog, I had the pleasure of meeting Khaled in Jerusalem this spring. You may remember that I blogged about a controversy in the Halifax papers about Khaled. Now, National Post columnist Robert Fulford has written this column - Khaled Abu Toameh: “The Palestinians’ Man in Jerusalem".
3. Gaza Controversy - Another controversy has erupted about the conduct of the IDF during Operation Cast Lead. The first was pretty much hearsay. This one seems to have more legs. Here are two reports - from Der Spiegel and The Jerusalem Post respectively - Israeli Soldiers Provide Shocking Testimony: Report Paints Damning Picture of Gaza Campaign and Defense minister slams criticism of IDF conduct. If the allegations are true, they are certainly disturbing and must be addressed. That said - it is interesting how the media has jumped on this story while the widely acknowledged use of human shields, etc., by Hamas and its fellow travelers is pretty much taken for granted.
4. President Obama - lots more criticism for the President which goes with the territory, regardless of political affiliation, gender or color.
My problem is that this President seems to believe that by delivering a mea culpa to everyone about everything America ever did, other nations will simply fall in love with America and all of the world's problems will disappear. Not only do I think that this is historically inaccurate, this will also prove to be tragically incorrect strategy.

5. The "Empire Strikes Back" - In my opinion, Israel has (for too long) not gone after the hypocrisy to which it is constantly subjected, especially by terribly biased NGOs. Kudos to Prime Minister Netanyahu for this - Gov't strikes back against 'biased' human rights groups.
7. Iran - from Der Spiegel - Intelligence Agencies' Assessment: Iran Is Years Away from a Nuclear Weapon - well, the Europeans and the Russians should know - after all, aren't they supplying a lot of the gear and technology to Iran?
8. Chinese Unrest - Al-Qaeda vows to hit China over Uighur unrest - that is going to take A LOT of suicide bombers - and if people think that China will take this lying down, I'd think again. But go ahead guys, knock yourselves out.....meanwhile, the Turkish leader who was so recently critical of Israel weighs in - Erdogan: Xinjiang is "nearly genocide." But the Islamic world remains cautious - maybe he should just focus on admitting to the Armenian Genocide that took place almost 100 years ago.
