That said, I think it is safe to say that this issue is not over by a long shot. 3. Are You Kidding Me? I usually listen to my good friend Andrew Krystal and his show Maritime Morning on Rogers 95.7 in Halifax. This morning he talked about the banning of To Kill A Mockingbird by a school in Brampton, Ontario. The reason? The book contains the disgusting word - "nigger". Andrew was right - that is no reason to ban a book - it shows ignorance on the part of parents and laziness on the part of educators and administrators. He pointed out that the book is about, among other things, tolerance and good parenting.
At the end of the day, however, and with no due respect, I think that this is all a bunch of politically correct baloney.
4. Speaking of Politically Correct Foolishness - I think that in any decision making process, it is good to look at the intended decision to see if it really makes sense. 5. Speaking of Politically Correct Foolishness, Part 2 - Yale University Press is publishing "The Cartoons That Shook The World" by Jytte Klausen. In an amazing show of timidity and intellectual dishonesty, the University itself and the publisher have decreed that the book cannot contain the 12 images of Prophet Mohammed that caused such a stir in 2005, nor any other images of the Prophet that had been intended to be included.
